Our tour of South America finished with eight days in Ecuador, spent mainly in the remarkable Galápagos Islands. Again we were so happy to get to experience this bucket list location with great friends as we embarked on another G Adventures tour.
We are going to try a different format for this blog…David created a video highlighting our many adventures so instead of the usual narrative I’ll include the video here and will follow with a few pictures to highlight the various locations and activities.
Enjoy!
Videos:
Quito: Overnighted here the day before we left for the Galapagos and the day we returned.

San Cristobal: Spent 2 nights here with activities including a visit to the Interpretation Center, a 14th birthday celebration for Haydn, a few hikes and some beach time with the local see lions.

Isla Lobos: This was a day trip that included snorkeling and a chance to some of the many birds that live in the Galapagos…up close. This included the famous blue footed booby and the magnificent frigate with its puffed up red chest.

Blue Footed Boobies!
Santa Cruz: We had 3 nights here where highlights included a visit to see the Galapagos giant tortoises, diving with hammerhead sharks, an afternoon at the Charles Darwin Research Station, kayaking at Tortuga Bay and several hikes including Loberia, Las Grietas and Playa De Los Perros. It was an action-packed visit!

Finally it was back to Quito for an informative visit to the equator at Ciudad Mitad del Mundo.

The Galápagos Islands were like nowhere we’ve been – a world unto itself. We are so grateful we were able to visit and learn so much about the many creatures we share this world with.
